Competition Day

It's the second day of the Daidogei festival and that means it is Competition Day. One of the distinguishing features of this festival, World category performers also compete for the title of Champion.



The judges (13 people) have the impossible job of deciding who is best. Judging is done by "hat money points" based on the idea that if you had 1000 yen, how much would you pay for the performance. Sitting in the sun all day in crisp autmn weather while watching great performances all day is fun but deciding the champion is hard!

From chuckles to side-splitting laughter, Thank You Tezuka is back. This regular performer to Daidogei is anxiously awaited by many for he always has something new for the festival. With 3 new acts in his 30 minute performance, he does not disappoint anyone this year.

Petra Lange - Beautiful Aerial Performance

This is the very first time for her to perform in Japan,
Petra Lange from Germany presents a beautiful aerial
performance twining her body around only one rope. She
climbs up and down using the rope and dances in the air.
She expresses her own life and also peoples lives on the
rope.The audience was just amazed to be able to feel her
energetic life!

Elegant World of Daniela & Marcello

Yesterday, I saw Daniela & Marcell's practice. Their moves
were so elegant that it made me go and watch their show. (Being
able to see this side of Daidogei is fascinating..)



This is their first time to join Daidogei in Shizuoka and first visit
to Japan. They usually perform in Europe so they felt a little bit
nervous about the reaction of the Japanese audience. However,
today, they found out that they can catch audience's heart even more....
They could tell by the audience's laugh and reaction. I am sure
that they will catch the audience's heart more and more!
