First, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to those effected by the Coronavirus.
Our hearts go out to the doctors, nurses, health and social care professionals on the front lines of this pandemic.
We are sorry to announce this unfortunate news but we have decided not to hold the DAIDOGEI WORLD CUP IN SHIZUOKA for this year.
After many difficult discussions we have decided to postpone the 29th anniversary of the festival until next year.
Our thoughts go out to the many thousands of artists, writers, producers and staff organizers around the world whose careers have been put on hold throughout this very difficult period.
This decision was not taken lightly, we have spent the recent months listening to advice from the government, healthcare professionals, residents and many more, however, in light of the present circumstances it was unavoidable.
Public health and safety must and will always be our number one priority.
Although the festival itself cannot provide a stage in the usual way, we are committed to working with artists and finding new ways of uniting audiences.
It's too early to say how this will be but we are confident that as a collective we can find a way to enrich peoples hearts through the power of culture and arts.
We look forward to seeing you all in 2021.
